Walter's violet is native to the southern states and the mid Atlantic region, but is hardy in New England. The semi-evergreen foliage is especially showy with the darker veins contrasting the silver-green foliage. The flowers are also a nice pop of color in the early spring. 'Silver Gem' was selected for its exceptionally silvery foliage.
