Allium tricoccum
ramps, wild leek
Wild leeks are unique in their ability to produce leaves which emerge, mature, and die back in Eastern woodlands before the flower stalks even begin to emerge. Flowers mature in mid- to late-summer in striking white globes. Much beloved by foodies, clumps of ramps are slow to grow and easily foraged to oblivion.
