Trout lilies are sturdy little spring ephemerals, slowly forming colonies as years pass. After four to seven years, double-leaved flowering individuals will arise in a patch, yielding a marvelous reward for the patient gardener.Trout lilies require high light conditions in the early season and are thus best planted under deciduous trees.
