Platanus occidentalis
American sycamore
American sycamore is vast and stately at maturity, with uniquely shaped leaves and peeling, plated bark that can easily be considered its most striking ornamental characteristic. This species grows into a broad, rounded crown, and tolerates the worst of soil conditions, including spray from road salt and air pollution.
