Aralia nudicaulis

wild sarsaparilla

Typical of Northern hardwood forests, wild sarsparilla is often overlooked by woodland walkers or conflated with poison ivy. This understory perennial produces clusters of white flowers beneath the leaves, giving way to a surprising dark berry in late summer.
