Pellaea atropurpurea

purple cliffbreak

Purple cliffbrake is native to North and Central America, growing in nooks and crannies on calcareous cliffs, rock walls, slopes, and even mortared walls. Though its preference for an alkaline substrate sets it apart from most of the acid-loving plants of New England, its beauty sets it apart, with purple blade stipes and rachis, blueish foliage, and an arching, open growth habit.
