Phlox subulata 'Scarlet Flame'

Scarlet Flame moss phlox

Moss phlox are bewitching spreaders, forming carpets of low-growing, needle-shaped evergreen leaves with short-stemmed flowers that bloom in spring. This species thrives in average to poor soils in full sun, often seen cascading from retaining walls. 'Scarlet Flame' is an exaggeratedly named cultivar that produces vibrant, highly saturated dark pink flowers.
