Obedient plant is so-named because the flower heads can be moved to face any direction. Though the species seeds itself out aggressively in well-drained soils and full sun, 'Miss Manners' is a patented cultivar that spreads far less aggressively than the species, and which maintains strong, upright stems throughout the flowering season. This late-spring bloomer attracts a number of pollinators.
