Rhododendron minus

Piedmont Rhododendron (Rhododendron carolinianum)

Piedmont Rhododendron comes from further south, but is surprisingly hardy to Zone 5. With evergreen leaves and a diminutive size compared to our typical Rhododendron maximum, this profuse spring-bloomer will surprise and delight in well-drained soils.
