A typical find in coastal salt marshes up through southern New England, this shrubs seeds readily in salty, disturbed habitats and has great potential as a salt-marsh restoration plant. This tough contender will survive high salinity and standing water, laying out shallow lateral root systems to support itself. Boasts excellent purple fall color and flowers profusely in the fall.
