Kalmia angustifolia 'Hammonasset'

Hammonassett sheep-laurel

Showy sheep laurel is a remarkable evergreen shrub, capable of growing in boggy to sandy soils, and of tolerating the coldest Zone 1 winters. While allelopathic to confiers and toxic to mammals, it provides winter forage and cover for songbirds. 'Hammonasset' is a selection from a wild population in Connecticut with a strong suckering habit and masses of pink blooms. Plant in moist, acidic spots for an eye-popping display.
