Leucothoe fontanesiana 'Compacta'

compact leucothoe

Leucothoe is often considered a great "solution plant" for dry, shady spots in need of filler. White sprays of tiny, bell-shaped flowers bloom in early spring and new foliage emerges deep red. Stems bearing alternate, glossy, evergreen leaves provide visual interest in at least three seasons where many other plants would struggle. 'Compacta' is a densely-growing cultivar with leaves that turn strikingly red when planted in full sun.
