Moss phlox are bewitching spreaders, forming carpets of low-growing, needle-shaped evergreen leaves with short-stemmed flowers that bloom in spring. This species thrives in average to poor soils in full sun, often seen cascading from retaining walls. 'Emerald Cushion Blue' is a cultivar with masses of deep blue flowers.
