A terribly underutilized native shrub, ninebark is named for the numerous layers of bark which progressively peel in a manner similar to birch. White clusters of flowers are followed by red seed heads. It thrives in any soil type and is a perfect choice for screening, naturalization or even stabilizing rocky sites. 'Center Glow' is an orange-to-burgundy-leafed cultivar developed in Minnesotta and derived from cultivars 'Monlo' and 'Dart's Gold.'
