Picea glauca

white spruce

White spruce is an extremely hardy evergreen, with blue-green, sharp, pungently aromatic needles. Eventually forming a stout cone shape, it grows best in well-drained, well-ventilated spots in full sun. Were it not for its sensitivity to air pollutants, it would be an excellent street tree, but it nevertheless serves well for naturalization and as a suburban yard planting.
