Tradescantia virginiana

Virginia spiderwort

Spiderwort is a native, perennial ford typically found growing as a weed in moist, partial shade. As a garden plant, it naturalizes readily in appropriate soils, putting out stolons and forming broad, bushy colonies. Caveat emptor: though this plant serves as a great nectar source for bees and butterflies, its leaves can cause skin irritation!
