Pityopsis falcata

Despite the common name, sickle-leaved silk grass is a member of the aster family. Pityopsis falcata is a low-growing perennial that has an impressive show of deep yellow flowers late summer to fall. It is adapted to thrive in sites with sandy, nutrient poor soils.
